Ceramic Grain Abrasive Belts
Ceramic grain Dynafile belts last between to 50 and 200 percent longer than other abrasive materials and cut faster. With self-sharpening properties, it offers a consistent finish throughout its lifespan, which is a significant benefit. Ceramic belts are great for stainless steel, rough finishing and deburring and you can use it on all metals, fiberglass, wood and painted surfaces.
An advantage of using ceramic is that it requires less pressure for stock removal. It outlasts zirconia and aluminum oxide, has less downtime for changeovers and is resin-bonded. Ceramic belts are also closed-coated. The abrasives have a micro-crystalline surface and have a uniform structure, helping it break down in an organized way. Ceramics are sensitive to heat as well as pressure, so be cautious when using the abrasive in specific situations.
Zirc Belt Specifications
Zirc Dynafile belts are perfect for steel and stainless steel, with greater cutting ability allowing you to sand in either direction. They also offer cutting power on aluminum, tool steel and nickel alloy. You can use them for surface polishing, grinding and deburring castings and forgings.
Made of Zircon grains with excellent heat resistance, the belts last long-term and even work on wood surfaces. Its natural grain colors are blue or blue/grey while ceramic is often white. Zirc belts take the best properties from silicon carbide and aluminum oxide to form a friable yet durable product. The abrasives best work between grit ranges of 24 and 120 grit.
High-Performance Dynafile Belts
Both zirc and ceramic belts are high-performance grains that can last several times longer than aluminum oxide. They effectively cut until the grain wears out, and the ceramic type is one of latest technologies. Both have a micro-grain structure, which means the smaller pieces break off, making it last longer compared to aluminum oxide belts, which dull with use and cause the stock removal rate to fall. As the grains dull, the belt requires more pressure to remove the material.
